Sourdough Cornbread

🥘 Ingredients

Part 1

  • cornmeal
    1/2 cup
  • milk
    1/2 cup
  • sourdough starter
    1/2 cup
  • unbleached all purpose flour
    1/2 cup

Part 2

  • baking soda
    3/4 teaspoon
  • egg
    1
  • oil
    1/4 cup
  • salt
    1/2 teaspoon
  • sugar
    1/8 cup

  • 5×9-inch loaf pan

Part 1

    Mix together sourdough starter , milk , cornmeal , and unbleached all purpose flour until it is a thick batter.

    Cover with towel and let sit on counter for ⏱️ 7 hours .

Part 2

    Preheat oven to 350.

    Grease 5×9-inch loaf pan .

    Mix together oil , egg , sugar , and salt .
    oil: 1/4 cup, egg: 1, sugar: 1/8 cup, salt: 1/2 teaspoon

    Pour onto Part 1 and mix.

    Sprinkle on baking soda . Stir carefully and well to incorporate.
    baking soda: 3/4 teaspoon

    Pour in loaf pan.
